HEROES OF IMPILTUR
This demon was revealed to be the originator of the Fraternity of Tharos, the Crown of Narfell, and the Demonstone. He was killed by the party atop the Demontower. While lacking in raw power compared to the other demons that had possessed the Demonstone, Tharos was a brilliant schemer and masterful at remaining hidden behind the scenes. Tharos revealed that it was he that originally corrupted the Dwarfstone and changed it into the Demonstone. He also told the party that he had crafted the Crown of Narfell which had corrupted the Nentyarchs. These claims hold some merit as the capital of Narfell, Dun Tharos, indeed bears his name. Some time after this, more powerful demons obviously came and wrested control of the Demonstone and empire away from him.
Tharos claimed that the demon Ndulu worked for him and had gathered the remnants of the broken Crown of Narfell so that they could be forged into the Moaning Crown at his behest. Again this claim seems to hold up as Tharos was able to rip the Crown from the party’s possession and completely command its power. Because Ghryll had been wearing the Crown as the heroes traveled throughout the other demon’s levels of the Demontower, Tharos was able to learn the other demon’ inscribed names. Tharos used this information to reclaim full control over the Demonstone as well as domination over the other demons. The heroes managed to shut down his portal to the Abyss and slay him before Tharos came into full possession of his new found power.
Tharos appeared as a spindly, demon dressed in dark armor. His face was entirely masked. While wearing the Moaning Crown, it appeared blackened with a ring of long, sharp talons of steel that blended in with Tharos’ features perfectly. His voice was a whisper that cut across a person’s thoughts. Tharos proclaimed himself as “Tharos the Blameless – the Whisper in the Night, He that Lives Between the Folds of the Abyss, and Abides in the Blindside.”
